Condensed milk flan

This is one of my favorites Brazilian desserts. Condensed milk flan is also know as Brazilian Pudim de Leite and it is ideal to be served in dinner parties because it is very easy to prepare, can be cooked on the evening before your event and it is delicious!

8 small ramekins or a medium glass bakeware (12 x 17 cm)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
Equal volume of regular milk (use the condensed milk can to measure it)
4 eggs

For the caramel
1 large cup of sugar
4 tablespoons of cold water


Put sugar and water in a small sauce pan and place it over medium heat. Keep turning the pan until the sugar melts into a golden brown caramel (be careful not to burn the sugar and yourself). Spoon caramel in the ramekins.

Combine condensed milk, regular milk and eggs in a blender and mix it for 4 minutes. Pour the mixture into the ramekins and place them in a roasting pan with water.

Bake flans to 180 degrees Celsius, for about 50 minutes or until they are golden brown on top. Let them cool to room temperature and place in the refrigerator, preferably overnight.

Serve it cold.
